Look, let me explain why that first half was poor:

Southampton vs Tottenham.

A thread:
Tactical plan:

The aim was to exploit Southampton's high-line.
High-Lines can be exploited by long-balls through the centre.

It worked, but only in parts.

Sonny just missed the runs by a hair's length every single time Dier played a pass forward.
The midfield of Ndombele-Højbjerg-Winks was solely set up in intentions of having the Frenchman dictate any amount of football that happened via the midfield.

Clearly Tanguy was a league apart from any midfielder that was on that pitch.

I don't need to explain further bout him
Our team was set up to soak up pressure and hit them on the break, releasing Son and Lucas.

BUT, only Ndombele was able to play line-breaking passes.

The long balls from Dier and Davison weren't on point and we kept giving the ball away because of that.
The second half change where brought on Lo Celso for Ndombele was VERY impactful.

Gio might not have played the passes that set Son free.
But he carried and played excellent passes to the person who did do the damage, Harry Kane.
Kane was so left-out in the first half and it wasn't his fault.

Ideally, Ndombele would be an 8, and Gio as a 10, which would let Kane get a lot of service from the middle.

Since that wasn't possible, he dropped back and turned into THE 10, with Gio as an 8.
In the end, we were deserved winners, solely due to that second-half tactical switch that saw Kane play as an attacking midfielder, rather than a CF.

The worry should be about how easily that defence kept getting caught napping. A new ball-playing CB must be on the agenda.
Note: Reguilon and Bale are yet to come into this 11,
Gio and Ndombele are yet to reach full fitness.
AND WE NEED A NEW BPD
That's it for this thread.
