I wonder what would have happened this summer if the Covid patterns we’ve seen in the north of England had begun in London first. Would randomly changing measures have been imposed across different bits of the capital? Or would parliament have been recalled and the alarm sounded?

And yes, I am bitter about it. I know many, many people who are.

A friend in another bit of northern England earlier: ‘Tbh I get that impression a lot, that if it doesn’t affect London it’s not a thing. And no one else seems to get how many different rules there are in such a small area that people travel through for work/ family etc.’

This is SUCH a common view here, I can’t overstate it.

Right I feel better for getting that off my chest. I’ve got a fry up to eat now.
