Do you know how many COVID 19 Testing cum swab collection centres are functioning in Guwahati city?It seems there‘s only one now and that’s GMCH(excluding, of course Sarusajai,which is only for incoming travelers.All other centres in different wards now do only RDT and not RT-PCR

Information is that Swab collection facility from all these centres have since been withdrawn, apparently due to shortage of Testing Kits. And this is against the backdrop of ever increasing number of cases of COVID 19 cases and related fatalities. (T 2/8)

Is it not against government’s tall claim of creating adequate testing facilities in the City (T3/8)

And do you know the situation in the only full fledged COVID 19 Testing Centre at GMCH? It’s over crowded and far from being user friendly to enthuse someone to go there. It’s not understandable why the Govt can’t have at least 4-5 zonal centres for the City. (T 4/8)

Few suggestions to make the Centre more efficient and service oriented:
(a) The COVID 19 Testing centre for the GMCH may be made separate and exclusive for the hospital patients. Since for every patient Covid test is now compulsory, this itself is a sizable number. (T 5/8)

(b) Even within the testing centre, where many potentially positive and infected persons are present, social distancing norms are not followed. Many were casual about use of masks. Much more public awareness is required in this regard (T 6/8)

(c) For many patience, not having sound knowledge of English, filling up of registration forms were a nightmare. Can’t we have a couple help desks who may guide and help deserving patients to fill up the forms? (T 7/8)
