A thread about #FarmOrdinance
We should understand how farming works before commenting.
I come from the village and have first hand experience of it.
In India most of the farmers have little land (<1-2 Hectare) and their produce is only good enough for their expenses

For such a farmer the basic need is, a) he should be able to sell his produce at optimal price his crop deserves and b) he should be able to sell it at ease with minimal transportation cost, so mostly they would want to sell it at some nearby place

Now to make sure this first minimalistic need of farmer, a concept called MSP was introduced, all that this government had to do is to continuously monitor this price for each and every state and make sure that this MSP price is implemented well.

Coming to second requirement ease of selling, APMC's were founded for this, many states have several APMC for fulfilling this requirement
Over the time various government realised that APMC had its own flows which were controlled by regulations

What this government had to do is regulate the tax charged at APMC and make sure that these APMC's are following the MSP very diligently.
It would have fulfilled farmer's need and also protect them from price risk.

Instead of this simple requirement this government brings a hunky dory bill saying a farmer can sell anywhere in the country, which farmer they are talking about? Not the farmer in my village who barely produces 5 quintal of Bajra/Wheat/Mustard (Depending on crop cycle)

So this might be for some corporate farmer who now will be able to sell not only his produce without any regulation but he will lure small farmer to sell to him to get "good price" for small farmer
So kind of going back to Zamidar days!

Not sure about one nation one market is from which angle good for the farmer! 🤔🤔
It looks like again what government is doing is in name of free market benefiting the corporates.

No problem with benefiting the corporates but it should not be in the name of farmer. A small farmer had only one source of income and only two small requests with the government, this government should not take this also away from them.
