real talk. all mdzs adaptations are brilliant. different adaptations take you on different experiences. donghua gave us a really powerful yllz, the most badass lotus pier mass*cre, little wangxian (and those cornetto ads) and the cool fighting scenes. wangxian xuanwu cave.
audio drama showed us that sounds can impact us wholly, without any visuals (except for the beautiful episode covers). it gave us the best second burial siege. it showed us the novel extra chapters. it made us cry, even with just spoken lines.
cql gave us a more emotional wwx in many sad and angry scenes. it gave us more shijie and wen qing. it gave us three bows in the jiang ancestral hall. it gave us the longing stares between wangxian. it gave us beautiful soundtracks and character songs.
but all these disparities, are what makes mdzs beautiful. if you find something lacking in an adaptation, you can find it filled in another. we shouldn’t make it seem like one adaptation is inferior or worthless to the other, or that someone who prefers THAT adaptation is
inferior or less significant.

i started with cql and then delved into the other adaptations very thoroughly and repeatedly. i still find myself loving each and every adaptation, and appreciating them separately and wholly.
so yup yup! each adaption is amazing, beautiful, wholesome in its own ways.

thank you for listening to my ted talk 🙈🙈 ahaha
ps/ you can enter the fandom from any adaptation and that doesn’t change anything, that doesn’t change the fact that you’re a fan. if you come from CQL, great! if you come from the donghua, great! if you come from the audio drama, great! if you come from the OG novel, great!
we’re all here bust to have a good wangxian time. don’t rain on anyone’s parade.
