How Chelsea FC can beat Liverpool
My lineup + analysis.

First off let me start with the lineup I want Lampard to choose Liverpool then I will explain my choice of selection.

In defence the main change from Brighton is Azpilicueta replaces Marcus Alonso and this to tighter mark Salah and stop him cutting in something Alonso and Emerson have failed to do in the past. Azpi is far superior to them in 1v1 defending and will help nullify Salah's threat.

The rest of the defence remains the same coming off the back of a solid performance vs Brighton and defensive continuity and consistenty is important. Reece James who will need to push up to support the attack and get crosses in to Giroud and Timo Werner. Kepa stays in goal.

In midfield is where I've made the most controversial change which is dropping Kai Havertz for the simple reason is he's not had enough time to perform well in this type of fixture. He's not had a lot of training sessions, he's not had time to adapt to the league, he's not played

A game in his preferred positon yet and throwing him in the deep end against Liverpool is setting him up for failure. Imo its better to go with consistent performers in Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho who will control the midfield and can still create attacking opportunities

The players will have to do a lot of dogwork this game and Havertz is far more effective higher up the field and with our defensive inconsistency the midfield I have chosen is best to protect the defence and gain a strong grip of the game by winning the midfield battle.

Kovavic returns from suspension and he will be key in transitions and driving the ball further up the pitch and relieving pressure off our backline. Kante to break up the play and Jorginho to play balls over the top to Giroud and Werner and break Liverpools high line.

In attack I've gone with Werner, Giroud and CHO. Giroud can battle with Van Dijk and create space in behind for Hudson Odoi and Werner who can use their pace to break through Liverpool's defence. Werner will play as an inverted winger and play off of Giroud. Hudson Odoi and RJ

Can continue their chemistry on the right flank and both are our best options in terms of chance creation and will effectively deliver good crosses for Giroud and Werner to capitalise on. I must stress whoever starts in attack MUST track back and work hard in defence against

The Liverpool full backs, Trent Alexander Arnold and Robertson otherwise our full backs will be overloaded and our defence will be exposed.

We will have to be clinical in attack, focused in defence and take control of the midfield to win this match. COYB
