No. Editorial decision making is influenced by political stance. Journalists are people who also have conscience and political aspiration. They don’t decide in a vaccuum and aren’t value-neutral.

How do we find objectivity in journalism, then? it’s the verification method. https://twitter.com/iyaslawrence/status/1307311670545453057
And yes, journalism creates change. but what kind of change?

Journalism informs, educates the public thus igniting public pressure to our political system.

But don’t expect lawmakers and politicians to automatically re-write laws & regulation.
That’s why good people need to join political parties, win elections, represent people in parliaments & executive positions.

Eventually, they r the ones who decide whether groundbreaking change & reform is carried out.

Revisi UU KPK, RUU Cipta Kerja and so on are good examples.
No matter how strong public pressure is, the Government & the lawmakers decide the way the see fit.

Change needs collaboration, Najwa Shihab is definitely doing her part through journalism.

I thank her for that 🙏🏼
