So here is my small rant about Icarus Falls by Zayn Malik. I took it from a tumblr post and it made so much sense. So,now if you listen to Icarus Falls again, ..or for the first time. You will know how deep it is. And if you know already.... I stan.
So I feel like Icarus falls is not only a lyrical genius album but the whole storyline and reference is real genius too!
Zayn used the story of Icarus and Apollo as metaphor for his whole album. I mean fans made this theory but it fits so well! And has that mythical theme!
So if you dk about Icarus then:
Icarus  is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth. Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax.
And it melted because his amibitions+
+ were beyond humanly possible. He was told to not to fly too low or too high because of the wax in his wings.

And im sure you heard about the tragic fall of Icarus because he flew too close to the sun. And he had to pay for the consequences of his desire and idealism.
And if you heard the album you would certainly be aware that how Zayn sing about Love in this part. They are really about that passionate , deep, strong, faith, something sipritual and soulmate type of love.
"We got such a sipritual connection"
"I know we have met before"
"What if we never met?"
"Something devine, planets align where we should be"
"Im in the right place at the right time"... And many more.
And lets not talk about " Let me" it obvious that its a song about marriage, a long asting, committed and very strong realtionship-
- he is willing to fight with the world for.
"We'd still make it if the planets all faded away"
"I go where you go, go tgrought the armegeddon .... Standing in the edge of no tommorow ....this could be the ends of me be the end of me ... I still follow"
"As long as you re +
+ feeling the same, I will follow you into the flames"
And many many more.
By he end of Icarus we can say that the sun encouraged him to fly higher? ("You shine so bright that you can blind somebody")

Now as we go towards the falls, which we can say that is the dark side+
+ the part of the album where he face consequences of this fame, the pressuse upon him and of his mental health too and his relationships. Like "fingers" "fresh air" are the songs that are certainly very deep but hard to describe because we actually dont know HIM +
+ and then in icarus interlude, zayn compares himself with Icarus
"Call me Icarus
I guess I flew too close to the sun
Myth, they call me legend, that might be why
In my Yves Saint Laurent" he sings of myths and of being a celeb (post 1d)

"Get the bees coming in for honey +
+ I supply" you can think of em as media, attention, press, promo and so on.
And then comes "good guy" it speaks of how Zayn has always been potrayed as the bad boy, like a drug addict, feisty, ride, cold, cheater, always blamed for failed relationships. +
"I've seen this before .... Lines, look into my eyes, im not a good guy."
Always being painted as an emotionally unstable, dependent type of person. Which he tries telling he is not.

So in conclusion: Zayn used myth of icarus to describe his own life. Like a methaphore.
The album is full of song of love and The dark stage of his life beautifully woven into 27 songs with the help of (using it lije a metaphore) a legendary greek myth. You cannot possibly say that Zayn is not a genius. And this is how I THINK. And I find this beautiful.
P.S. these are from my opinion. And if anybody have an open opinion. I will greatfully dm you the post. Only if im sure youre not going to oppose the one who made this in tumblr.
