I don’t know if allegations against Anurag Kashyap are true or not. I’ll wait for the authorities to decide that. I don’t even know if this is an attempt to silence his voice. Maybe it is. Maybe it’s not. If false, then a very important movement is being misused and diluted.
And that’s pathetic and terrible. But from everything I have observed in the last 2 years, ever since #MeToo movement gained momentum in India, we believe survivors and we don’t celebrate the accused till the charges are cleared. Why is the case different today?
It’s a known fact that to save his production house and his name, he slept on his employee’s several complaints of sexual abuse against Vikas Bahl and only expressed his “guilt” when the survivor made her story public. Only then. That’s not what biggest feminists do... @taapsee
I don’t understand why Anurag Kashyap is celebrated so much when he is a deeply problematic person and why we refuse to call out his toxic behaviour. We shouldn’t avoid all this just because his political leanings and views align with ours.
If this is indeed being used by Right Wing to silence his voice then it’s wrong and should be blamed for misusing and diluting a very important feminist movement.
