The 389-M budget for the rehabilitation of Manila Bay isn't only limited to the white sand/crushed dolomite. The beautification of the area is only part of the rehabilitation.

I get the hate that is coming from the project, but please don't spread misinformation about it. -
Roque was wrong in stating that the white sand would be good for the mental health. The project was blown way out of proportion because of the crushed dolomite project, but please do remember that this is just one part of the whole rehabilitation process. -
It's just sad to see that even the government has failed to deliver the correct information to the people. The term "white sand" gives out the wrong implication to the project.

This project has a good intention, and it is a long process to clean Manila Bay. -
To address erosion, geotextile tubes filled with sand have been installed in the perimeter of the area to keep the strata in and to prevent solid waste from getting in. Geotextile is the same plastic used in creating artificial reefs but designed not to degrade into harmful -
microplastics. Inter-agency groups have been formed to address issues raised like high colliform levels, pollution, housing and other related concerns.

It is true that there is so much more work to be done with regard to actual rehabilitation like cleaning and dredging -
the esteros and rivers that flow into Manila bay but there are many more ongoing efforts parallel to this one. Let's not forget that this project has multiple parts and not just the crushed dolomite.
