cw // grief and loss mention

i’m so tired of some given stans trying to erase mafuyu’s character development and trauma by saying he’d be happier with yuki. given deals with grief and loss, a topic that isn’t handled too well in a lot of media. but, given does a great job at it-

because it shows mafuyu’s journey and development through his loss. mafuyu becomes a better person with uenoyama by his side, he literally says that “i won’t be afraid of the next winter if i’m with you”. he is getting to a point where he’s able to forgive himself and yuki for-

everything that’s happened and is able to let go. he’s also allowing someone to help him through that as well. and seeing people completely disregard ALL of that development by saying that he’d be happier with yuki really hurts. i see myself in mafuyu and??-

i just wish these people could see that given story is set up the way that it is for a reason.

given is a comfort show for my gf and i (and many ppl dealing) bc it has showed us it’s okay to move on and that we’ll be okay in the end. yuki’s words “and even if this hole shrinks... it will never fully heal.” have been so vital to helping us move on and grow with our grief.

for me, it’s one of the first pieces of media i’ve come across that has dealt with grief and loss in a respectable & accurate manner. and seeing given stans handle it like this upsets me. they’re completely missing the message it’s trying to convey. so please :/ leave it alone

i know that their intention is well, but you need to realize you’re erasing apart of mafuyu’s development when you bring yuki back into the narrative. so, please. let given tell it’s story the way that it was written!! if it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it :)
