Her strategy to undermine gender discrimination through the extension of the Equal Protection Clause to women in a series of cases litigated from the early to mid-1970s meant that I was born in the late 70s into a nation fundamentally better for women & girls.
When I think of what I might not have accomplished in my life without the work she did just before my birth, I am grateful. That credit card in my name represents a post-graduate education, a career, & financial independence I may not have had without her brilliant advocacy.
It is *just* a credit card but it represents resources, experiences, & opportunities women can only access because RBG & her colleagues convinced judges that our government should recognize female people as existing before the law independent of fathers & husbands.
