Ok in seriousness I want to just post briefly about my own mental state: the SCOTUS issue has had me in an on off panic spiral all day but I think it's really important to understand people are already worried, we are worried enough, we don't need to be more worried
And also that conversely, proclamations like "don't worry, take to the streets!" are useless to folks who live in the boondocks

Basically, i don't think it's helpful to view this more catastrophically than everything surrounding it.
If the Democrats take the Senate and the Presidency, there are things that can be done to mitigate the harm. If they don't, we would have had a massive problem without this vacancy anyway. Any scenario where the Presidency isn't GOP still delays doomsday even if the Court falls
(because a Biden administration won't be asking the Court to rubber stamp blatantly fascistic executive orders)

So basically, my point is we were all extremely anxious before Ginsburg's passing, there's a lot to worry about, but this situation doesn't spell immediate doomsday
If nothing else, keep in mind that the Supreme Court docket is set for the time being and it's unlikely we'll see immediate rulings involving the new justice if a justice is forced through, and if we do that will affect the results of the election
I'm not really looking to debate this, just... Trying to encourage people to not doompost as much. Democracy is already in crisis, this is another factor aggravating that, but"welp we're definitely exactly at this level of Hitler now"helps nobody. Even if I also do that somrtimes
Someone said to me once "remember V for Vendetta is not a prophecy" and I feel like I and a lot of my feed should probably take that to heart right now
