WHY GHETSIS POKEMON IS THE BEST VILLAIN IN THE ENTIRETY OF THE (main) POKEMON FRANCHISE AND A FUCKING THREAD FOR MYSELF
MAKING A THREAD BECAUSE I WANT TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT HOW EVIL THIS SON OF A BITCH BASTARD IS!! HE IS THE BEST AND MOST EVIL POKEMON VILLAIN BY FAR AND WE SHOULDN'T BE SHY.
SO LET'S START OFF WITH WHAT I KNOW ABOUT HIM FROM PLAYING BW1. At the start of the game we see him around, giving a rally (kind of like a politician) to the people Accumula town, you know being a politician and stuff. He just talked and looked scary, no big deal, we thought his
motives were clear from the get go, wanting to release Pokemon for them to be able to live in harmony. Pretty morally gray for the usual objectively bad ideologies most other teams had before and even after them. So we meet N, most of us probably assumed he was the main villain
of the game. The other times we met Ghetsis he was either saving the Seven Sages or giving more political speeches. Alas, at the end of the game we are told by Ghetsis himself that his goal wasn't to free Pokemon so they could live free in the wild for their "best" but to be the
only one who has Pokemon in order to rule the world. If remember the game, you'll see how their persuasion had seemed to work through and through, with people who actually believed in the fact that maybe Pokemon would be better off without humans bothering them, meaning that his
plan was mostly working perfectly. So, if the persuasion didn't work, he'd simply use force via his grunts. Now, he may have generic motivations, but the execution of the plan he had is what makes him the best villain in the main franchise. You see, through out the game you are
told that N is the ruler and leader of team Plasma, their "Young King" as they put it, but Ghetsis was actually the brains behind it all along. You attempt to take N down because what he believes in contrasts with what YOU believe in, but in the end he has a genuine change of
heart and starts to learn that MAYBE his ideas aren't what's ultimately the best, something that makes Ghetsis upset and causes him to directly call N a disappointment without hesitation, you know. Ghetsis had an elaborate plan ever since he found N (or maybe since even before,
we don't know if N was a necessary component for Ghetsis' plan in the first place.) Ghetsis decided to adopt a homeless child who had been living with Pokemon and raised him as his own son for a while with that goal in mind. He basically manipulated and wired N to do the dirty
laundry for him, probably planning to betray him after his plan had been fulfilled. He admitted to not care about N and that he had only been using him all that time. All in front of our faces. And not only did he manipulate N, his "son", but he also manipulated the entirety of
Team Plasma and even used his persuasive and manipulation tactics against NPCs in the games, during his rallies. He also possibly manipulated and Anthea and Concordia, and maybe six of the Seven Sages. Sounds pretty evil, right? So. After that he just disappears and we do not see
him again until Pokemon BW2 (I didn't play through this game because it is hard to find but I am trying to my best lol) where we learn that once again he is the true brains behind Neo Team Plasma after we had thought it was Colress, The Shadow Triad and Zinzolin. Again, once his
pawns are defeated, the first thing he does is insult them, and he claimed that Colress was more interested in Science than in Neo Team Plasma. In this game, his motives are way more straightforward than they were in BW1 so instead of just using someone to develop a fake plan, he
uses someone to do all the dirty laundry and strain themselves while he tries to bring Kyurem back in order to freeze the entirety of the Unova region. Not only that, but his team manages to freeze an entire town. Not only that, but after the player catches up to him in the Giant
Chasm, he summonsed Kyurem and order it to use Glaciate on the player, AKA told Kyurem to freeze us AKA tired to commit murder, of which we were only saved because N appeared right in time to have us NOT die. Once N arrives, Ghetsis continues to berate him, just like he did in
the previous game. He then uses DNA splicers to turn Zekrom/Reshiram back into a stone and fuses one of them with Kyurem, who he then forces you to battle (but you aren't allowed to catch him because his cane is cool). After you beat B/W Kyurem, he will attack YOU and after you
defeat him, he simply suffers a mental breakdown. Despite all the cruelty he showed N, N showed compassion back, and yet he rejected it out of pure rage and distaste for N. Now, it may be unfair to compare this Ghetsis to the Ultra games Ghetsis, but they're still the same chara,
just from another universe. In the Ultra games, he comes to the conclusion that being brought to the game's universe is so that he may rule over existence and he plans on using Giovanni as a pawn to achieve that, also claiming that an already evil person is easier to manipulate
and also being mildly ableist in the same breath, calling N a "fr**k without a human heart." The player intends to tell Giovanni, but Ghetsis makes you battle him, and if you win, he will strike Lillie and keep her as a hostage, threatening to harm her if you do not give up your
Pokemon. Colress however comes to the recuse, Ghetsis questions why he is against him, and Colress says "I hate you lol" before sending him back into his own world. Now, that all sounds evil, especially using his own kid as another piece in a game of chess, but what makes him
better, scarier, and more evil than all the other villains? Well, I am going to compare all the main series villains to him to prove my point on why he's the very best (but after posting this because this is making my computer lag)
OKAY SO NOW THAT MY COMPUTER IS NO LONGER ABOUT TO COMBUST INTO FLAMES BECAUSE OF HOW MANY TWEETS WERE ATTACHED, LET'S START BY COMPARING HIM TO THE FIRST BADDIE OF POKEMON, GIOVANNI OF TEAM ROCKET (Excluding the Celebi event bcoz i dont remember much from it)
SO. Let's talk about their similiraties, shall we? Aside from them being bosses and all that. They are both dads that were completely horrible to their children AND they lied to everyone! Giovanni is the leader of basically a mafia, Team Rocket. He basically just wanted more and
more power, we assume this is to rule the world. So he wanted to capture Mewtwo for it. Pretty simple, right? So, what exactly makes Ghetsis more evil than him? Well, Giovanni might have been hiding himself and distancing himself from Team Rocket in the public eye, but his team
was more direct with his goal, they were knowingly evil. His biggest crime is probably Pokemon abuse and theft. Ghetsis manipulated people into joining him, utilized them and probably disposed of them later. Ghetsis also threatened to commit murder because a kid beat his powerful
Pokemon. He is quite evil, but he doesn't sound TOO evil, right? We all know Team Rocket is the most memorable Pokemon team, them being the first team and all, but this doesn't automatically make them the best. Some may say that their motives being unclear is what made them
better, but I digress. Giovanni lied about his public image, since he basically was just an unofficial gym leader in public. Sounds evil, is evil, but not AS evil or as cool as the year planned plan Ghetsis performed. Giovanni also seemed to reflect on his actions a lot more, all
the while Ghetsis didn't even show one sign of remorse or regret for the possible harm he had caused other people and all the lying he did.
Now let's talk about TEAMS AQUA AND MAGMA. In a nutshell, mass genocide. But their real MOTIVES were making the world better for Pokemon (Aqua) or making it better for humans (Magma). However, they weren't actually evil, Maxie and Archie juts miscalculated. The similarities
between them come down to teams rather than leader; Teams Aqua and Magma had "good" intentions that were miscalculations and oversights on their part, Team Plasma (not Neo Plasma) had good intentions by wanting to stop what they considered to be "Pokemon abuse" although Ghetsis
had worse intentions while Maxie and Archie genuinely had "good intentions." We all know flooding/draining the earth doesn't sound quite smart, but their calculations were mostly focused on ONE thing specifically without taking into account all the side effects, and in the end
the team had a change of heart. So they were the bad guys, but not the BAD guys. They were evil because they were a little stupid. Ghetsis however didn't have a change of heart, he was just left in a state in which he was harmless from what the Shadow Triad told the player.
Now, when it comes to team Galactic, it gets a little tricky. "How is wanting to make a new universe by destroying the current one less evil than the basic control the world thing Ghetsis has going on?!!?" and I'll explain that it comes down to execution and motive.
Ghetsis' execution involved him being involved with a mid tier role up until N achieved what he wanted him to do, after which I assume he would betray N like the sick monster he is. Cyrus gives the appearance of being the leader from the beginning. It's also important to mention
that Cyrus' motivation for wanting to make a better universe is because he feels emotions are the root of all the problems in the world. (brb)
This is all because of how despite his excellence as a kid, his parents were still awful. The God part is a little unclear to me still. And even in the Ultra games, he doesn't have the same reaction to being defeated as Ghetsis did, which I assume is a result of nihilism.
Cyrus' motives are because he is nihilistic and hates humanity and emotions, not because he wants to be the sole ruler of the Universe. His goal is terrifying and poses a threat, but he is far from being evil just because. Also, most of team Galactic seemed to join him willingly
on his goal, they weren't tricked into joining nor was Cyrus pretending and using them in order to betray them afterward, though he might have been lying on how it would've ended for them. Ghetsis straight up lied about everything because he is just built different
The cause for his motives is unclear to us aside from just WANTING power. We could say the same for Giovanni, however I build the argument that because he didn't lie to anyone in Team Rocket about the true intentions he isn't quite AS evil.
NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT ANOTHER TRICKY CASE, LYSANDRE. I have a ton of personal bias against him because X/Y's writing and pace did him dirty, however let's try to focus on the character and I'll try to put my bias aside from this!!
Lysadre's motive at first seems to be beauty, he wants to achieve beauty forever, eternal beauty, a beautiful world... For which he will use a weapon of mass destruction for. Lysandre at first seems nice and maybe even a little manipulative, constantly complimenting the player
throughout their adventure and expressing admiration towards our strength. He didn't manipulate or trick anyone into joining him but he did to us and our acquaintances for the most part. His motive being a beautiful world with unclear reason as to why makes him a sick contendor
for evil villainy reasons, and even the fact that he expressed disgust over his vision being impossible to accomplish feels threatening since he came so close to doing it and even firing the weapon anyways, which just led him to get buried in ruble (and maybe dying)
Although, Ghetsis is still more evil because of the whole thing he has going on. Using people and then getting rid of them or getting rid of people who bother his path. He had no noble intentions and didn't hate humanity like Lysandre and Cyrus who are just doomers basically, he
wanted power and used other people in order to get that power. Lysandre was misguided and he really ended up hating humanity for many of the same reasons that many of us end up hating and getting tired of it for.
I'm gonna skip on Guzma and Team Skull, since they aren't evil. They just failed the island challenge and decided that they wanted to cause problems on purpose (I will do the same with Team Yell since Piers is not evil)
Now, Lusamine. Lusamine is a strong contender with Ghetsis. They are both evil and manipulative bad parents, however Lusamine had a redemption arc that Ghetsis completely lacked. Lusamine from the original Sun and Moon is far worse than USUM Lusamine, but they both are STILL
evil. The only reason why I would consider Ghetsis to be worse than Lusamine even for a second, is because Ghetsis didn't come to his senses or apologize for anything, unlike Lusamine. However, in terms of villainy and evil, they are both equally as bad in different senses (even
though Lusamine didn't lie to her crew, she lied to the rest of the world) and her obsessive behavior led her to be an extremely horrible mother. I feel like the only reason Lusamine would be less terrible than Ghetsis is because of her coming to her sense and nothing else, cause
otherwise they would both stand on equal grounds. Now, finally, Rose. Rose is probably one of the least sensical villains in my opinion, and it's because his motive not only is very nonsensical, but also because it came from out of nowhere and felt rushed.
Rose had no reason to utilize Leon. He didn't really feel evil, and I quite frankly still struggle a lot to understand the reasoning and motivation behind Rose except wanting to preserve energy for the next 1000 years in preparation for an event and somehow being pushy about it
with Leon. Eternatus proved to be a threat to Galar, and he unleashed it for the right reasons, but he was very odd and non sensical about it. In the end, he turned himself in to the authorities, which means he probably realized his mistake. Although, I believe he might've
manipulated Oleana into doing some things for him, but I'm unsure about it for now. In the end, Ghetsis is evil-er because he is more coherent of a villain than Rose is, this comes down to the writing and the motivation as well as execution.
In conclusion, from all this thread, Ghetsis is the most evil and definitely the best main series Pokemon villain because
1- He is the one villain who never once wanted to give up his plan and seemed to hold actual hatred for the player and N, but he also was never remorseful or
seemed to think twice, not even regret them. He was evil to the core and didn't care about using others.

2- he's actually fully evil as opposed to the others who are just evil but not TOO evil, good intentioned but dumb, nihilistic, or fully evil but got redeemed

AND
3- because i said so and thats my opinion. /j
