RBG's legal legacy is a case study in how we human beings are complicated creatures with the power to create AND destroy.

RBG is simultaneously responsible for one of the more destructive & racist anti-Native opinions in recent times but also did so much good work.

Complicated.
It's another example that none of us are monolithic, two dimensional or simple. Any Native who advocates for the Native #landback movement may have a difficult time with her legacy but one who focuses on civil rights outside of Native communities probably unabashedly loves it.
Under the "doctrine of discovery," Oneida II, "fee title to the lands occupied by Indians when the colonists arrived became vested in the sovereign--first the discovering European nation and later the original States and the United States..." Sherrill.
"...the Tribe cannot unilaterally revive its ancient sovereignty, in whole or in part, over the parcels at issue. The Oneidas long ago relinquished the reins of government and cannot regain them through open-market purchases from current titleholders." Sherrill v. Oneida Nation
