hey might do a thread abt this bc it’s getting a bit annoyingi just wanted to say that acab, blm, etc, should never be turned into a cute little hello kitty type beat thing. police brutality is not cute, it’s not pretty, so stop trying to make it such.

don’t get me wrong, i’m acab and pro blm, but these little “hello kitty says acab!” things are minimizing everything wrong with the criminal justice system. “acab” is not a cute little statement to fit ur individuality complex. people are DYING. Black ppl are DYING IN THE STREETS

and i’m guilty of falling into this little anarchist aesthetic trope before, but hearing from several Black creators has changed my thoughts on it. i really get that these people do support acab and blm, but making it into an aesthetic thing isn’t okay

i will say it again. it is not a cute little phrase to fit ur aesthetic. a petition or donation helps much more than a hello kitty pfp ever could. working to dismantle and abolish an entire criminal justice system that was built on racism, isn’t that cute. don’t treat it as such.
