I’m going to be starting a series called do you remember? This series will consist of Peterborough players you may have forgotten about over the years since they joined the club and what they’ve been up to since they departed. To start with I will be doing a player who was a 1/?
personal favourite of mine when he was at the club, Erhun Öztümer, the English born player started his career off at Sivasspor in Turkey, not making a single appearance for the first team during his 2 year stint at the club between 2009-2011. After leaving Sivasspor, Erhun 2/?
then joined Anadolu Üsküdar who now play in the Turkish amateur division, with the Turk grabbing 5 goals in 34 games for the Turkish team during the 11/12 campaign. After an average season in Turkey, Erhun decided to make the switch to Dulwich Hamlet, a team currently playing 3/?
playing in the Vanarama National League South. With the player managing to achieve 49 goals in 78 games for the Hamlet in his 2 seasons in the sixth tier of English football, after joining from Turkey on a free transfer. In June 2014, Öztümer would then make his return to 4/?
professional football, joining Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee from the Hamlet. He would then spend the next two seasons at the club, playing a total of fifty times managing 7 goals for the Blues, but is mostly known for his time at the blues for having an 5/?
unconditionally brilliant work rate, that of the player Sammie Szmodics. Never stopping once throughout the whole game. In 2016, he decided that he was going to run down his contract with Peterborough and join league one side Walsall on a free transfer, with him then staying 6/?
with the club for two seasons managing to achieve 30 goals in 86 games. Towards the end of the 17/18 season, Erhun announced he was going to be leaving Walsall as he had no intention of renewing his contract at the club. With the Turk then making the biggest move of his 7/?
career going into the second best league in England to join Championship team Bolton Wanderers, with whom he scored on his debut in a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United in the EFL Cup. Unfortunately life in the Championship didn’t go very well for Öztümer, with him only 8/?
playing 18 league games all season for the Wanderers, Erhun would then leave Bolton just one season into his career there as the club struggled in a financial situation due to facing potential bankruptcy. Erhun would then find a new club in Charlton Athletic, who were also 9/?
in the Championship at the time of his joining, he has been at Charlton ever since, playing 14 league games and managing 0 goals, also getting relegated with the Athletic just one season after the club got promoted from league one. Which he is now playing in for the first time
