I Believe In The Supernatural- The Day I Received Double

Dateline- January 26, 2011.

But the background story first. My wife and I got married in 2002. And then, days rolled into months and months to years as we did all we could to have a child.
We went through several medical tests: a laparoscopy, HSG and hormonal tests. But there was one I can never forget. We had an appointment at a government-owned medical institution and my wife and I were taken into a room with a bed, video player and a TV.
I looked at the nurse who took us there trying to make sense of what we were to do there. She handed a container to me and asked us to get to work. They wanted to do a sperm analysis and needed a sample immediately.
My wife broke down in tears. I comforted her and told her we had to do what we had to do.
There were several prescriptions. We went to a particular hospital in Ibadan where the doctor wrongly prescribed a drug for my wife. We discovered she started developing facial hairs like a man.
Fortunately, a big brother of mine who is a medical doctor visited us at home, saw the medicine on the centrepiece and asked who was taking the orange pills. When I told her it was my wife, he couldn't believe it. He told us it was a male hormonal drug.
We went to many prayer mountains. At one point, there was a woman who said she could do womb massage, claiming that would help. We were seriously considering IVF after many years. I had prayed, fasted, gave and did all I knew how to do.
We even painted a room in our apartment in baby-friendly colours and bought baby items and furniture as an expression of our faith.
But there's one incident that happened that I won’t forget. I was going for a prayer meeting that day. As I made to turn at a particular spot, I noticed a sister's van had a minor accident with a taxi. The taxi man was really giving her a tough time.
I parked my car and came down to intervene. I saw there was a man seated in the van. Obviously, the taxi driver wanted his car repaired because of the damage while the sister argued that the taxi drove wrongly and hit her.
As I intervened, I realized that the sister went to pick the guest minister at the prayer meeting. I pleaded with the taxi driver to let them go and showed him my ID as I promised to repair his vehicle.
Reluctantly, he allowed the sister to go with her passenger while the I took the taxi to my panel beater. I stayed with the panel beater until he repaired the taxi and I paid. By then, the prayer meeting was over.
I decided to still go to the Samonda venue just to see if I can 'meet the grace'. I met a few people waiting for counselling when I stepped into the hall. Suddenly, the man who was seated in the van (and was the guest minister) beckoned at me. I walked briskly towards him.
He turned to the sister and said, 'Is this not the man who helped us at the accident scene?'. I answered in the affirmative. He reached out, laid hands on me and I was shocked by what came out from his mouth. He said, 'I rebuke every barenness upon your life in Jesus Name'.
That was all he said. I was wondering if anyone spoke to him about me. It was his first time in Nigeria as an adult as he was resident in the Republic of Benin- though he's a Nigerian. We had never met before.
A few minutes later, the pastor of the Fellowship saw me, took me by the hand and led me to the guest minister. In my presence, he requested that the minister should pray for me that my wife and I were waiting for a child.
The minister laughed and told the pastor to ask me how he prayed for me. In his words, 'The Lord already showed me'. He didn't pray for me again.
A short while after, my wife went to a clinic in Yaba area of Lagos to complain of a pain in her arm. She felt the pain anytime she exercised and it was growing in intensity. She met a doctor who took note that we had been married for 8 years without a child.
A very wonderful doctor (he's my friend on Facebook), he came to meet me where I was seated in my car and we had a chat. He encouraged us to bring all our previous test results and book an appointment with a Visiting Consultant who is a Professor.
We did. We repeated a few of those tests and we were placed on a particular medication we had used in the past.
I can't forget that particular text message a few weeks after. 'The doctor said I'm 2 weeks pregnant'. I dropped my phone. I wanted to scream but I was in the office. It was joy unbelievable. She had not been pregnant for one day before!
She had gone for the routine consultation with the Professor when she was informed she was pregnant. Just like that. The waiting period was over.
Many months after, I was at work when my wife called. She had gone for a routine ante-natal and the doctor said they had to bring out the baby immediately. We had waited for this moment for 8 years and finally the hour had come. Yes, 8 years. It was a Caesarian section
Seconds turned to minutes and those minutes seemed to me like hours. I was covered in sweat. My wife's chief bridesmaid who was with me tried her best to encourage me. I paced all over the place. I looked at my watch almost every minute.
Oh my, the burden of anticipation could be grueling at times. I tried to guess what was going on inside the theatre. I wondered why everything seemed to take so long. Then, I heard the cries of my daughter.
Those cries melted my heart. It was as if I was under a cold shower in an extremely hot weather.
As I heard my daughter's first cry right outside the theatre, my phone which was in my pocket rang. Initially, I didn't want to pick it because I was focused on just seeing my daughter.
Nothing mattered to me more at that time. But I picked the call. It was a call from Honda Place. I had been promoted at work the previous December and was entitled to a status vehicle. They didn't have the colour that I wanted and I had to wait.
The call was to inform me that my specification and colour had arrived and they would deliver the brand new car to me that day.
As I listened to the good news at the other end, I suddenly understood the truth in Isaiah 61:7- "For your shame ye shall have double" and Zechariah 9:12- "Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee".
So on the same day, Jan 26, 2011, God gave us a daughter and also put a brand new car on top.

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
