tbh im kinda tired of twitter portraying triggers as shit that immediately sends you spiralling into an uncontrollable hysterical panic attack. some of my most insidious triggers are things that "just" make me uncomfortable at a glance, bc that's rarely ALL that it brings. 1/3 https://twitter.com/BRlSINGR/status/1307362133294952448
my best example of this is when i was feeling low & decided to start self-destructively "sorting" (torturing myself w) screenshots of messages from my abuser. i felt fine until i went to bed, when my hot water bottle leaked & got my sheets wet, & i just started SOBBING. 2/3
it's not black & white. panic attacks & flashbacks aren't the only trauma responses out there. instead of policing how people describe whatever it is they need a cw for, start raising awareness of other kinds of trauma response (shutting off, lashing out, breaking down etc.). 3/3
