Mr. Patterson brags about his time on 8B, but his leadership of 8B was characterized by flouting of District laws, financial improprieties, fraud and frantic attempts to avoid consequences. So much so, @ODCA_DC investigated the commission and the findings are shocking.

At it's most basic level, for years, if citizens in 8B wanted a voice - on legislation, on liquor licenses or on zoning or development - 8B wasn't there because Mr. Patterson didn't hold meetings - including one period where they went six months with no public meetings.

Mr. Patterson didn't follow the law - in giving grants or keeping records or filing reports - and that cost this Ward 8 community tens of thousands of dollars in public funds, that went to other neighborhoods because of his recklessness.

But wait, it gets worse. When the Auditor caught on and started to investigate, Jacque Patterson ducked responsibility. He tried to throw together records and ducked meetings - refusing to cooperate until he was issued a subpoena.

The Auditor was forced to freeze ANC 8B's bank accounts because they wouldn't stop spending illegally. What did Jacque Patterson do? He continued issuing checks to charities for children, KNOWING THEY WOULD BOUNCE! This deprived children of government funding and was FRAUD.

You can read the whole report online here, but in short, @DC_Edvocate's conduct as an ANC was inappropriate, wrong and tarnished the good name of all of us who volunteer for public service. It shows he cannot be in a position of public trust.

I wish we had local reporters who would dig up this stuff, but the coverage on SBOE races is nonexistent and I know people are already receiving their ballots overseas. They deserve to know who they are voting for.

I want to ask Mr. Patterson's endorsers on the Board @jessicasutterW6 and @JackJacobsonDC if this is how they will guard the public's tax dollars if he is elected to join them? To the ANCs that have endorsed him, @tmholcomb and @AbrahamClayman is this how you run your ANC?

Finally, I want to ask @CMRobertWhiteDC @RobertWhite_DC, who is in charge of oversight of ANCs in DC, if by his endorsement, he believes that this behavior is appropriate for Commissions?

For me, the answer to all of these is no and that's why I haven't backed @DC_Edvocate

I confirmed independently with the Office of ANC's that Mr. Patterson was Chair of the Commission this whole period and is the person referenced throughout this report.
