Why do people think wizard terf is a feminist? Even aside from her history of racism, antisemitism, transphobia (antiracism must be an inherent part of true feminism bc there's no equality for women w/o equality for WOC & jewish women) her women's rights stuff is... Weak
Like I MAYBE understand using your initials rather than your name in the 90s so people don't make misogynistic assumptions, but it's not the 90s anymore, and instead of owning being incredibly popular and a woman, she *checks notes* chooses a male pen name
And the way her female characters are treated in the HP series is... Bad
Hermione is "naggy" and "bossy" which are two super common misogynistic complaints, and she's mostly there for her male friends to take advantage of her intelligence, and she's put down for being a know-it-all, which doesn't usually happen to smart men.
Plus the misogynistic (and lowkey racist) stereotype of "awkward frizzy haired girl gets her hair straightened and puts on nice clothes and suddenly all the boys acknowledge her as a woman instead of a genderless object bc they have pants feelings about her"
Most of the women are valued by their caregiving role, the way it's implied Umbridge is "punished" is vile even for a horrible character, don't get me started on Cho
She's treated like a bitch for being sad and not really ready to move on after her boyfriend was LITERALLY MURDERED and then they act like she ~betrayed~ dumbledore's army even tho IIRC she only did so under the influence of veritaserum
Narcissa Malfoy was done dirty, Tonks was done dirty, Fleur Delacour was done dirty, the Patil twins were done dirty, Luna Lovegood was done dirty
A bunch of the male staff got loads of backstory and character development but Minerva McGonagall did not???? Done fuckin dirty.
(and no, her being given a backstory in side materials while Snape, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Slughorn, etc had backstory in the books doesn't count)
Lily Evans was done dirty
Bella Lestrange having a secret baby with Voldemort because Of Course a woman can't be a supporter/follower of a man without wanting to jump on his dick
Merope Gaunt being an "ugly" abused woman who's obsessed with a man who doesn't want her and tricking him into being with her, then dying of heartbreak? That's like 3 misogynistic tropes in one
Rose Weasley deserved better than to be shoehorned into a relationship with Scorpius Malfoy despite them having like zero interest in each other, in a way that stinks of her just being used to cockblock Scorbus because we can't have any gays!!! Done dirty
Myrtle is just a walking misogynistic stereotype of an overly dramatic/hysterical and irrational woman who nobody wants to be around
