Today's non-academic project: replacing the round doorknobs with lever doorknobs, so that the first floor is accessible for our guests

(round doorknobs are difficult for people with conditions that affect their motor functions or joint mobility)

It was fascinating to realize how steep the price for doorknobs can get when you go beyond the basic builder-grade round ones.

Another project down the line will be replacing the hardware on the cabinets. I priced it out, and I'll wait a bit. We have a lot of cabinets.
