A thing that is very hard to communicate without sounding like a crank or like you’ve given up is that ...

Even if Biden is voted in, and the senate is ‘taken back’ and an SC nom is blocked or the court expanded -
There are still many, many people in the country - both in positions of influence and in support of those people - who worship authoritarian power because it makes them feel safe and hurts those they don’t like.
Political victories wont disempower those people, and more likely will embolden them.

We can hope cooler heads prevail, say “theres more of us than them” or put hope in a younger generation of voters - but none of those ideas really ... means anything.
I think a lot about how the prideful US American chud is scornful of shared progress thanks to a virulent individualism and jealousy of others’ success - and I think of this as a thing that needs defeating in addition to a set of politicians and their crock policies.
This is the thought process I go thru when I see people saying we have a lot more fight left to fight. Biden, dem senate, liberal SCOTUS are not enough because they exhibit all the milquetoastity of liberalism, but also because they do zip to address the desire to hurt others.
Or maybe they do? I am not a political thinker - but it doesn’t seem like any of this is going away, anytime soon, and certainly not in response to a shift in political power.
