Arsenal don’t have a lot of players who play reverse balls or unexpected passes in general. Apart from Ceballos, they all more or less look to pass in the direction the they are moving in.
Works ok with their focus on wing play.
Ozil one of the all time greatest reverse ball passers, incidentally. Run across the pitch diagonally and reverse it. Extremely effective yet simple move
It almost feels like design Arteta because of Saka’s integration and Willian’s signing. These players look to bang obvious passes and their running and maybe timing of the pass brings the creativity.
Think Arteta might be like Conte in terms of wanting to control smallest detail
Suspect Arteta will always sign players who are easy to control, i.e will allow manager to limit their game to be focused on a few certain runs and passes.
Might have taken the worst of Pep in that regard.
Means you can’t sign Neymar, Messi, Hazard etc. I think that’s why City never sign such players as well. Always look for too attacking talent whose game can be chiseled instead of expanded (Messi, Neymar, Hazard, Griezmann, Mane)
