We’ve heard moaning from a well paid leader today

So here is a list of things I have seen my patients struggle with:

Going without meals so their children don’t

Not getting their prescriptions for important medications, like asthma inhalers

Missing school not having sanitary products

Walking 13 miles daily for work, not being able to afford bus fare

Despairing they’ve walked 6 miles to the food bank & it is closed, having not eaten for 2 days

Giving up work because childcare costs more than what they earn

Repaying a weekly fee in council rent arrears, whilst being homeless & not having any money left over for food

Sex work to pay the bills

Pawning their wedding ring to pay rent

Refusing a recommended hospital admission because they don’t get sick pay

Kids having to wear all their clothes in layers because it’s winter & they can’t afford a coat

The list goes on

And I’m sure my colleagues in health & social care can also recount such instances

That cannot be acceptable in our society
