Ruth Bader Ginsburg didn’t just talk about justice and equality. She personified these principles. In 1999 Justice Ginsburg married Hassan Jabareen & Rina Rosenberg in her Supreme Court chamber. The couple couldnt marry in Israel because interfaith civil marriage is not allowed.
Hassan asked RBG to officiate the ceremony for the young couple who like many around the world came from different faiths but wanted to marry. She did and told them it was the last ceremony officiated at the Supreme Court which then limited weddings to relatives of the Justices.
At the ceremony RBG read from The Prophet by Khalil Gibran on Love and Marriage. @rinarosenberg writes “On many occasions she expressed support and appreciation for the work of @AdalahEnglish and she always encouraged us to continue the struggle for justice”
