Fanfiction authors are a GODSEND. You just give me this for free?? This extra content? These emotions?? You put HOURS of your time, effort and love into this and then just??? Let me have it??? For free?? I don’t have to do ANYTHING to enjoy this content?? GODSENDS!
Seriously. If you’ve ever written a fic, you have my entire heart. You do. I’m not exaggerating. And while fic authors do give us all this amazing, incredible extra content for free, please be sure to give back. Share it. Comment. Give them the credit they deserve.
They literally did this for free— to US. But it’s not free to them. It’s time, effort, love, stress. It’s a toll on the authors. So GIVE THEM LOVE. SUPPORT THEM. Pay them back in the best way you can because they deserve it.
Wow I made this after binging an 85k fic this afternoon and did NOT expect it to pick up like this. But I LOVE seeing you guys shout out your favorite authors! Please continue because they deserve to know and that love should be spread!!!
Okay listen, I wrote this as a reader but I'm also a fanfic writer myself. When I say feedback feeds authors to get you more content, I mean it. And every author that has qrt'd this or replied to this has expressed similarly. And so many have said how underappreciated they feel!
That's why I wanted to take a moment to make this thread, even though I didn't think it would blow up like this. Because fanfic authors give us such wonderful lovely gifts and so many of us feel like we're just posting to the void. GIVE YOUR WRITERS LOVE!!!!!
Also, just to clarify: I don't care if you post an update every single day or if you take months to update your fics. I don't care if your chapters are a few hundred words long or thousands of words long. I know the struggle you put in, the time and effort.
If you write fics, you are a godsend. That's it, that's the end of it. I know it's hard not to compare yourself to others most of the time so allow me for a moment to say you, specifically, are a godsend and you have created something special. The world is better for your content
