Real Madrid disrespects club legends [a thread]
Zidane: Joined Real Madrid as a player and became a club legend. After he retired and became a manager, he began as Ancelotti’s assistant, then manager of Castilla then 1st team manager.
Raul: Joined the club as a youngster and became a legend of the club. After he decided to retire, the club played Al-Sadd in a friendly game at the Bernabeu in his honor. After he became a manager, Real Madrid welcomed him with open arms and he is now El Castilla manager.
Fernando Hiero: Became one of the club’s most designated defenders and a true club legend and captain. After he retired and got his managerial license, he was appointed as Ancelotti’s assistant in 2015. He then later became Spain’s manager in the world cup.
Emilio Butragueño: One of the greatest strikers in Real Madrid history and a Spanish legend. After his retirement, he was appointed as the manager of public relations and one of the spokesmen for Real Madrid.
Santiago Solari: One of the best midfielders Real Madrid has ever had. A true club legend with many achievements with the club. After retirement, he became a manager. And so Real appointment him as castilla manager and later on as 1st team manager. He is now a club ambassador.
Guti: One of the best midfielders our club has ever witnessed. A true club legend and a top player. After retirement and becoming a manager, he was appointed as Juvenile A manager.
Roberto Carlos: The best left back in football history and an unquestionable club legend. After his retirement, he became the director of institutional relations for the club.
Iker Casillas: The greatest goalkeeper in the history of Real Madrid. A legend of the club and football. After announcing his retirement this year, he was offered and has accepted a job as an advisor for Florentino and to work close to him.
So yeah, we may not post sentimental videos or graphically insane pictures on our social medias screaming ‘GRACIAS ADIOS’ but we do appreciate our legends. Ask yourselves what YOUR CLUBS has done for your legends after they were gone!
Yeah I bet that cheery, teary goodbye was oh so sweet.. but we don’t forget about our legends. They stay close to club. If not with a managerial job or a seat at the board, they get an honorary position like Ginto, Di Stefano and Mijatovic.
You’re all so quick to judge the club because we sell club legends without giving them a massive celebration and you don’t even check that most of them ask to leave quietly and some of them do get the celebration they deserve like Salgado for example but you don’t bother to check
In any case, we do more for our legends than any other club does. We keep them close. We don’t forget about them. Which is 10000x better than a billion celebrations.
