At the age of 21, my great-grandfather built washing machine from engine of a Jap Zero, had a family, and could run his own farm. Three generations later most of his spawn are declawed breed-pigs who lack any survival or technical skills, none are well rounded or healthy.
None of them are skilled laborers, nor their talents practical. Almost every one a slob office-jockey with massified sheep families. They referred to Him as "Miraculously Talented" and now I laugh. He was normal among a Generation who lived in a world demanding self-sufficiency.
Our situation today is remarkably unique: first time since Dawn of Man, our individual existences do not correlate with any proficiency with the tools we've created to support civilization. We are entirely dependent on decentralized corporate hegemony to sustain us
Ted Kaczynski speaks about this in regards to whether a Mexican village could build a worker refrigerator and the implications of collapsing the demand of refrigerators. It is entirely true that locally-sourced products and locality at large is the casualty of globalism
Globalism and its hunger to mass reproduce itself has eliminated the need for well-rounded individuals who sustain a tribe, replacing them with specialized dead-ends who can only be relied upon a narrow scope of function, such as programming a "smart" refrigerator
I have met many frens these last few years in manufacturing (mostly military) who lost their jobs to automation. Only option is to return to college, get a degree for yet another hyper-specialized position and hope it isn't outsourced/automated.
Lamentable but entirely common. Most of us speak out about future automation w/out acknowledging it will be staple of our future. Elites don't care because wealth concentration and arrogance—they're perfectly fine with letting folk lose jobs and be squeezed out of existence.
Not every truck driver can code. Most can't, or won't. The politicians and corporate vampires are well aware of this. Promising to "bring back manufacturing" is an empty and insulting lie. Globalism is the only God these technocrats pay homage to.
Vast amounts of immigrants to replace technical labor, advances in automation capabilities, and continuous concentration of wealth are all factors that will affect you and I. Our ability to combat these alone or on the basis of "free market" is impossible (see libertarians)
Donald Trump, while he is promising what many people want, cannot plug the hole of globalist authoritarianism. Don't think he is the lesser choice, but these factors of our dramatically altered survival call for a new system of politics is not on the ballot.
Wishing for apocalypse, while seemingly immature and ignorant, becomes standard in coming years as hyper-specialization culls "American greatness". Children of modern future must avoid this fate at all costs, they don't need to become rural shut-ins, but they also must become
well rounded, skilled, and hard to kill. Preppers have been doing this to some small extent, if a banking collapse seemed inevitable then more folk would follow suit. Humans naturally adapt and most of us don't want to be caught off guard by a potential winter.
Like my great-grandfather, born just before the Depression, there was no alternative to their hardship. Today our horizon is muddled with hedonism and entertainment so we don't think about the coming winter. This is foolish. We should all be learning important skills.
Having guns are nice. Farming is good. Hunting is better. Building your own shack is great. Living off the land is optimal. It was the way we *were* and have lived. It is not backwards or regressive. Our reality is stuck in modernity because we haven't seen the other side.
