Last night I was reminded of something that happened in the Thomas fandom that I can't believe I forgot about until now, and its a little upsetting thats been largely forgotten-

When we first heard about Theo a good number of fans rejected the idea of an autistic coded engine
And yes, I can back up that this did happen.
Apart from this reply, I don't recall the arguments that Theo being Autistic was stupid or whatever being challenged, in fact at the time I fell for that bullshit mentality myself being a dumb 15/16 year old https://twitter.com/sleepyhenry/status/863192287534227456?s=19
Now that I actually get how representation works and have become more vocal about issues Autistic people face, there's no way I couldn't bring attention to this. In hindsight it was SO fucking ableist

So with that I sincerely ask...what the fuck guys?
And before anyone says it I don't care if it was 3 years ago, nobody has addressed it since so I don't see enough to suggest that the consensus has changed, not gonna just assume that it did. If the stances on this have changed, I'd like to see indication of it cause hot damn
Oh yes, and the response to Lexi was equally garbage. Again, not gonna blindly trust that the consensus on that has changed.

Also, more proof of ableism/transphobia
