moments in awc that implicitly foreshadow what will happen in the next movies - a thread

in seattle, when kim is helping tessa to get ready for the club, kim tells tessa that hardin spoke with vance. tessa is completely unaware that hardin had talked to vance. she has no clue hardin and vance are that close. but we all know they are :)

trish’s reaction when tessa mentioned vance!!! she was clearly thrown off. i instantly thought about that scene in awf. we could feel that there was more to that story and she confessed they had spent some years in his house after ken left. even locals got a hold on this one

the fact that we see hardin writing on his black notebook multiple times and he evens says he’ll let tessa find out what he writes in there “maybe... someday”

landon and tessa in the car scene. tessa asks landon about dakota and he totally avoids the question and changes topics to talk about horoscopes. how random! clearly a hint on how their relationship isn’t working and foreshadowing another love interest for him: sophia (aka nora)

hardin mentioning his will to return to london after he graduates... we know what happens when he goes back. tessa’s reaction also was spot on. we could feel it will be a source of trouble in their relationship later on

in the bed scene, the fact that hardin rubs tessa’s belly, drawing circles. i’m sure i wasn’t the only one that immediately thought about tessa being pregnant and hardin being all soft, rubbing her baby bump. giving us major aeh vibes with that scene

i also think the glance hardin gives to tessa when she approaches smith said a lot more than “im in love with her”. it said more like “i want to have kids with her”. they seemed like this cute little family already

smith’s interactions with hardin were so natural that we could feel they had a special bound. the fist bump is something you do with your bros also smith copying what hardin said word by word. it was perfect

steph is actually the only one texting hardin through the whole movie. couch scene, his phone keeps buzzing and tessa says he should look. however, hardin says he doesn’t need to because he knows who it is. steph. why would she be the one texting him all the time? hint: obsession

when tessa arrives at the ny’s party. steph is the first one to approach her and says “we’ve missed you! are we good?”. we can all agree it sounded super fake... but what if it was on purpose? she’s faking her way into making amends with tessa so she can trust her again

plus when hardin went to the frat house alone, steph immediately says “missed us?”. she’s so into him please

steph offering tessa her homemade weed brownie, then looks at tessa and hardin. it seemed so random but think about it. we know she is the one who drugs tessa in awf. what if showing that steph knows her way with drugs is a hint on that particular moment? yeah

how steph side-eyed tessa while she was on hardin’s lap. you know what they say: if a look could kill...

we know for a fact tessa accepted the job offer from vance, even though she never mentioned it to anyone. we find out thanks to trevor’s text messages. those who haven’t read the books had no idea she would be moving to seattle so... spoiler alert, she is!

noticed how hardin goes home and grabs a bottle of whiskey from the kitchen cabinet? so i’m guessing that’s his favorite booze. now, noticed vance during that call with tessa on ny’s? drinking a glass of whiskey himself. coincidence?

during the 9 days, hardin and trish have a mother/son talk and she mentions she’s dating mike, “the wanker from next door”. i love that they officially introduced him, giving him an opening for the next movies

also during hardin and trish’s talk, she casually says she speaks with vance “from time to time”. meaning they kept in touch after all those years and that hardin had no clue they did. meaning they had a special bound no one was aware of

this small interaction between hardin and vance screamed father/son vibes. they clearly wanted to show us that vance is trying to help hardin in any way he can. he knows how deeply hardin loves tessa and he genuinely cares for hardin’s happiness. like a father does.
