I am out of patience for people who post and tweet and cry and scream about how important this election is, but refuse to sign up to make a single phone call to a voter in a swing state asking them to make a plan to vote. It is easier than ever to volunteer in a swing state
"But phone calls make me anxious." Me too. But so does the thought that one woman had to fight to stay alive for me and my fellow citizens, not for herself or her family, and that her death opens us up to the catastrophic disregard and denial of our human rights.
If you are sitting in your house today (which you should be because pandemic) you are wasting time that you could be calling voters in Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Arizona, Montana. Many of these senate candidates have enough money to blanket their media markets until November 3.
What they don't have? Enough volunteers to call Democrats (it's so easy! You're calling Democrats!) and get them to make a plan to vote in this election. Do you have internet access and a working voice? You can make calls. Organizers have trainings and talking points. No excuses.
I'll leave it at this: last week a voter told me that she would "walk across broken glass" for the Democratic party, but refused to make phone calls. Don't be like her. I don't need you to walk across broken glass. I need you to talk to some Iowans. https://www.mobilize.us/axneforcongress/
. @OrganizerMemes let's drop some phone bank links for my future Senators in the comments!
To everyone who has retweeted this and still isn’t signed up to phone bank: does Saturday or deleting your retweet work better for you?
