I'm extremely disappointed to see the number of people on this hellsite advocating for a government shutdown to, what, somehow force McConnell to hold off on a confirmation? Federal employees are human beings, with mortgages, and families. 1/
We worked without pay for six weeks the last time. DC had people lined up for blocks at food banks. Field offices organized their own food drives. How much worse is it now that spouses may now be out of work or staying home because of remote learning? 2/
I'm privileged enough that my wife and I are ok. But I'm not going to speak for my colleagues who are one or two paychecks away from eviction. We *do not* use human beings as pawns to manipulate government action, whether it's over a border wall or a SCOTUS appointment!! 3/
If dems gain back the Senate, there needs to be the establishment of an emergency fund to allow the government to operate as normal for at least 30 days in the event a budget doesn't pass. Otherwise this is just going to continue to happen 4/
My biggest disappointment is that dems suddenly seem super okay with throwing other people's livlihoods under the bus once it's for something they want. We're supposed to be better than that. 5/5
