I worked with Van Morrison once at a big music Festival in Scotland. The weather was terrible, freezing cold, non stop rain, the site a sea of mud. I did my gig and such was the temper of the audience I was reduced to telling them
my father was Scottish in hope of garnering some sympathy but frankly by that time they hated everyone.
But not as much as Van The Man hated not just his fellow artistes and the audience, but the entire world.

He arrived in a stretch limo that couldn’t cope with the mud, but he wouldn’t get out of it. Finally he had to and surrounded by a phalanx of burly security guards he had the entire toilet block cleared so he could take a piss.
Then everywhere he walked - which wasn’t much - an exclusion zone was established and when he was in his luxury cabin another no go zone policed by security was in place. None of this was to exclude crazed fans, it was to exclude fellow artistes all of whom
knew full well after years in the business not to bother fellow acts and certainly never to bother the main act. It was just in case anyone made eye contact with him. He created drama and difficulty from the minute he arrived and without doubt
From the minute he got off the plane. His pathetic ‘protest songs’ against Covid precautions are typical of a spoilt, narcissistic old man who hasn’t been getting the extreme levels of attention he once enjoyed.
Anti maskers like @vanmorrison @ianbrown @NoelGallagher et al are fabulously wealthy by normal people’s standards. They can afford top of the line health care and their celebrity will enhance that. They are old, arrogant and ignorant and of all the
causes Morrison could use his remaining power to highlight - racism, inequality, fascism etc - protesting with badly written ditties about wearing a face mask and washing his hands out of respect for others is unutterably and monumentally pathetic.
