1. I too wish I had opportunity to pay more tax in 2017-18; would have meant I generated at least some local income!
Jokes aside, this is a valid query. Data released is for fiscal year ending Jun. '18. From Jul. '03 to Dec. '17, I lived abroad with no locally taxable income. https://twitter.com/Dr_Atiqa/status/1307232334350090240
2. Made no local income in '17-18 because I was committed to earning my stripes in politics.

From Jan. to Jun. '18 served PTI's Election Cell as head of policy. Refused a salary because helping Pakistan will never be about money. Simply proud to have helped make PTI successful.
3. When filing this return for '17-18, was informally advised not to declare income & assets abroad, being told that is what is normally done.
I declared every Rupee, as I never want to have anything to hide. It's a slippery slope from there. That's what my parents taught me.
4. Since Aug '18, living off a minister's salary.
Whatever the drop from what I earned before, & whatever the frustrations while trying to get things done in Pakistan's govt, these two years serving my country have been professionally & personally the most fulfilling of my life.
5. For transparency my return details for the following year, 2019-20.
Taxable income, my annual salary of Rs. 3,026,059 (Rs. 3 mln);
Tax, mostly deducted at source, of Rs. 144,145. Verifiable from the FBR.
