#BVB 2020/21 season on #FM20

The first half of the season went well. We are up 8 point in the Bundesliga, played good in the DFB Pokal and we are facing Manchester City in the Champions League.

Oh and Haaland won the Golden Boot. He scored 17 goals in 25 games.

let the shitshow beginn! Haaland is injured for 2-3 weeks. Sancho is also out for at least another week and Reyna is questionable for the next game.

We currently play a front 3 of Reus - Reinier - Hazard. With only Bynoe-Gittens and Moukoko from the bench.

This also shows in the standings. I don't know what is happening in BMG but they are really good at the moment. Meanwhile, we grind out points. At home we still manage to win, but we struggle on the road.

However, the 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena was a huge W.

We faced Bochum in the DFB Pokal. It was the first game with Haaland back on the pitch and we rested some other starters.

Let's just say we were really lucky! Bochum played amazing, they pressed our back four aggresivly and had a compact shape. Great game! We won in extra time

CL! ManCity at Borussia Dortmund. It was a game that was decided in midfield. A joy for tactical minds and boring for the average fan. Silva gave City the lead. In the 46. minute Sancho was fouled in the box and Haaland scored the penalty. The rest was a Reus show. We won 3:1.

The second leg in Manchester was a tough game. Favre almost pulled a 'Guardiola' and tried something completely new, which we haven't seen all season. Did he overthink this?

In the end Dortmund lost 1:0, but advanced to the quarter finals because of the first leg. [ #FM20 #BVB]

Quarterfinals! #BVB at Old Trefford. After a transfer window that featured endless made-up rumours and sources about Jadon #Sancho, we are finally meeting #ManUtd on the pitch. Haaland scored the only goal if the game. But we could have scored much more. [ #FM20]

We aimed to control the second leg. The plan worked brilliantly and #ManUtd almost never saw the ball. It was a great game for the fans. Haaland finished a beautiful attacking move in the first half and Emre Can netted the second goal. It was never close [ #FM20 #BVB]

In the league we regained the top spot. However, we managed to loose our 8 point advantage (typical Favre!) and are now even with Borussia Mönchengladbach, who beat us at home () [ #FM20 #BVB]

Highlights were the game against Paderborn and Schalke. We beat Paderborn 7-1 and newly-transferred youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens earned the player of the match award. He scored two goals and added an assist.

In the Revierderby we beat Schalke, who are a really tough opponent in #FM20. well at least they are much better than in real life. Sancho gave us the lead. After Schalke equalized Haaland scored the 2:1 after some beautiful Gegenpressing (typical Favre )

In the league we often play a 3-4-1-2. It helps us to play out of defense and to defend counter attacks. Which helps a lot, because it seems that Bundesligateams can only press like maniacs and counter. [ #FM20 #BVB]

I am really hyped for the season finale. We play Köln in the DFB Pokal Semifinals and face PSG in the Championsleague. In the league we still have to face Leipzig and we cannot drop points anymore because BMG is winning everything. [ #FM20 #BVB]

Let's start the season finale. Borussia Dortmund won the DFB Pokal Semifinal against Köln in a very one-sided game. Marco Reus scored both goals in a 2:0 win. In the finals we have to face our nemesis Werder Bremen.

In the Bundesliga we rested some starters and gave the second unit a chance. Youssoufa Moukoko took this opportunity and became the youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history with only 16 and 5 month! #BVB

Our next big game was against PSG. Tuchel played a 4-4-2, which we countered with a 3-at-the-back shape. Goals from Haaland and Reus gave us a two goal lead. But in extra time PSG played a long ball to Mbappe, who finished briliantly. Score after the first leg: #BVB 2:1 PSG

In the second leg we didn't press as high as usually and tried to give them less space behind our defense. It worked quite well and they didn't have many chances. But neither did we. It was a very tense game until Haaland finsihed a beautiful counter to advance us to the Finals!

Meanwhile the season finale of the Bundesliga couldn't be more exiting. We had the chance to clinch the title at home against Leipzig. But it wasn't meant to be. With 3 points ahead of BMG and a much better goal difference the fans didn't really care and celebrated early!

It is done! Borussia Dortmund is the Bundesliga Champion 2020/21! What a season it was!

DFB Pokal Final. Borussia Dortmund vs. Werder Bremen at the Olympia Stadion in Berlin. Normally you would consider #BVB the favorite, but in recent years the Schwarzgelben struggled against Bremen. [ #FM20 #BVB]

This night was a different story however. Dortmund played beautiful football, led by an outstanding Jadon Sancho who scored a goal and assisted another. It was a football celebration and #BVB won 3-0

The celebrations for the players were kept to a minimum, because a week later we had to face Bayern Munich in the Championsleague Final. Lucien Favre and the veterans kept the young lads in check and everyone was fully concentrated on the big match [ #FM20 #BVB]

There was a sad moment before the match when I realized that it was Piszczeks last game for #BVB .

On the final day there wasn't any other topic except the game.

The game itself was a close match. Bayern played very attacking football. We played a 4-3-3 with a solid midfield and an attacking 3 that was looking to make runs behind the line. [ #FM20 #BVB]

Bayern had most of the ball, but our relentless press forced them to make mistakes. Haaland used a key mistake by Süle and scored the 1:0 in the 30th minute. In the second half he added a second goal after a beautiful counter attack. Leandowski cut the lead down to one...

... but it was to late. We won 2:1 in a crazy match. Dortmund won the Championsleague and the Tremble. I never imagined that this would actually work. What an amazing end of the season. [ #FM20 #BVB]

2020/21 Season review [ #F20 #BVB]
It was a fantastic season which ended in winning the trembe. We finished the league with 78 points, which is the second best result in the clubs history. On top we won the DFB Pokal and the Champions League.

The team is a great mix of talent and experience. Used in the right way it can, at least in #FM20, be really successful. Favre tried different tactics to balance the team. In the end he mostly used a 4-3-3, which he adapted depending on the situation. [ #BVB]

We only conceded 20 goals in the Bundesliga and had 19 clean sheets. We won by having a very solid defense, which was lead by Hummels (89% tackles won), Akanji (87%), Meunier (86%) and Bürki (107/127 shots saved). [ #FM20 #BVB]

Our midfield duo of Witsel and Can proved to be the perfect backbone for the team. Witsel organised the team and was always a reliable passing option (68 passes; 93% completion), while Can did the dirty work and provided vertical runs (2.5 tackles; 1.4 interceptions) [ #FM20 #BVB]

They were flanked by the main creators of the team. Sancho (4 dribblings; 1.9 key passes; 1.8 chances created), Brandt (2,4 key passes; 1.5 chances created), Guerreiro (1.1 chances created).
Sancho had 14 assists, Guerreiro 10 and Brandt 6 in all competitions. [ #FM20 #BVB]

And then we had our two main scorers. Reus had a great season with 19 goals and 12 assists. The inside forward role suited him perfectly and he could focus on scoring rather than being a creator. And then there is Haaland. He scored 39 goals in 48 games. Absolute beast! [ #FM20]

Outside the first team Delaney and Hazard were a very important part of the team. But our main three rotation options were Jude Bellingham, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Gio Reyna, who got a lot of playing time. Also Reinier did a good job as a striker-backup. The future is bright! #BVB
