A fun game is to ask a Canadian to name any members of their supreme court.

A question for law people on this thread:

Is our disinterest in the SCC a cultural thing, where we are unconcerned, for better or worse, with this important institution?

OR

Is the SCC less important, subject to more checks, than the US equivalent, and actually matters less?

Like, I have no interest in this if we are just being smug and ignorant about the nature of our democracy, that's just us being Canadians of the worst order.

Tell me at least that our system is *designed* better.
