The passing of RBG is a huge reminder of what is at stake in 2020. @realDonaldTrump will nominate a constitutionally based justice who will not be beholden to any political party. God help us all if we lose the Senate to the left or it is Biden or Harris making that appointment.

I do think POTUS should wait until after Nov 3 to nominate a new justice. We didn't allow Obama's last appt. to go through in the last year of his administration & it is only fair that the next President make this nomination. I'm pretty sure DJT will be the one making it though.

I've been listening to the pros & cons for a couple of days now. Earlier in this thread I was in favor of waiting until after the election to appt a new SCOTUS assoc justice. I am now convinced that would not be wise & want Pres. Trump to nominate & the Senate to confirm now.

I wonder if the open SCOTUS appointment will knock COVID off the front page now?
