i am unlabeled. i have experienced so much hate towards how i choose to identify and seeing as more and more hate is showing up on my tl, i felt as if i needed to make this thread. please inform yourself about the unlabeled identity! the entire point of identifying with unlabeled is not using labels. straight is a label. furthermore, everyone who identifies as unlabeled is not the same; grouping everyone into a single label is invalidating.

first of all, this is so invalidating to the person’s journey to discover how they’d like to identify. seeing celebrities you can relate to gives people courage to come out. we are our own person.

again, the point of identifying as unlabeled is to not have to use labels. do you understand how stupid saying this sounds? we don’t need to “pick a label.”

i feel like a broken record at this point. unlabeled ≠ straight. just because we choose not to put a label on ourselves does not mean we’re not lgbtq+.

choosing not to use a label has no correlation to any sexuality. if someone decides to not use labels to define their feelings, they are not invalidating anyone else’s sexuality. everyone is different and that’s ok!

(this varies from person to person!)
the point of being unlabeled is to not define how we feel. some people aren’t comfortable with explaining this. respect boundaries and ask for clarification only if the person is ok with it!

news flash: we’re real and we exist. don’t invalidate someone else’s feelings just because you don’t understand/don’t want to understand. in the kindest way possible: shut up
