First lesson in PATRIOT HISTORY

Nationalism is love of the ruling government.

Patriotism is love of the land.

Big difference.
This is an important distinction for countries that were under colonialism.
In Vietnam people hated the French government, but they loved the land.

They worked the land, got food from the land, buried their dead in the land, inherited the land.

American advisors could not understand this because the U.S. is obsessed with upward mobility and moving.
If you haven't heard the song in a while, THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND is inspired.
The lyrics would warp the mind of a sleazy real estate tycoon President whose passion is putting his name on buildings.
This is why I consider myself a patriot.

Here's Mojo Nixon's recording of THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND
