feeling so disillusioned & defeated because of everything happening in India. what's the point of studying? of trying? the economy is tanked, the political climate is dangerous for minorities & the state actively wants us disenfranchised or dead. I'm finding it hard to cope.

usually I would add some caveat about my privilege or whatever when saying something like this, but the arrests made over the last 6 months were, for the most part, educated Muslim & Dalit scholars and reporters.

we've always felt as though getting an education would be this indestructible shield, we're not upper-caste we don't have ancestral wealth or family lands, most of our security as minorities in this frequently unstable country comes from our degrees, our skills, etc etc (contd->)

-> idk I just feel so unsafe and scared, and not at all hopeful about my future. because it's not like I'm going to fall in line with what the govt. wants people to. idk where this thread is going
