Very good analysis written by my friend @lukemcgee regarding the latest #Brexit news. Several leaders from my party in Congress including my Congressman @RepRichardNeal and now former VP Biden have expressed concerns about the recently passed #InternalMarketBill https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1306559550716248066
I know this has upset some of my friends in the #Conservative Party in Britain as I experienced last night debating with my good friend @richie_1994wale ....love ya mate haha. But I have a few things I want to say about where things stand.
First, I share the concerns of former VP Biden and others in my country about the possibility of a hard border returning between Ireland and Nothern Ireland. That issue has always been one of my concerns about #Brexit. I think it's important that no hard border returns there.
With that said, I think it's important to support the UK and EU in continuing to work out a trade agreement that works for both sides. To say anything else at this time I don't believe is the right approach.
Do I think this #InternalMarketBill is the right approach right now? No I don't...but ultimately I think it's vital that a deal get done given the current economic situation facing Europe and the rest of the world. Put aside the rhetoric and just get it done!
Regardless of where things stand today and in the weeks ahead, nothing can ever break the Special Relationship between the United States and United Kingdom. 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇸
