Several people have reached out to me in the last couple of months saying they were looking for advice on losing weight. Here’s my advice: fuck your weight. (Thread thingy)
If you gain a pound or lose a pound or whatever it doesn’t matter. What matters is health and wellness. Sometimes that means eating a box of cookies. Sometimes it means running a marathon in your neighborhood.
What’s healthy changes and in times of incredible stress what’s important is that you accept what healthy means for you. Angst about weight gain right now is 100% angst no one needs.
Did you wake up today? Are you going to be able to get out of bed tomorrow? Are you happy sometimes? Focus on that.
Now, if you want to *feel* better here’s what I suggest: eat more vegetables, eat less processed food, maybe drink/smoke/snort less, move around about a half hour or more a day, try to get enough sleep, probably a good idea to take a vitamin D supplement.
Stop standing on the scale if it upsets you. Do all that as much as you can and I promise it helps. Signed guy who lost some weight one time and doesn’t want people to suffer with toxic body expectations in a pandemic. ❀
Some addendums/clarifications: listen to qualified doctors, wear a mask, try not to go to Florida, pray to the blood red badger god of oblivion at least four times daily or he will consume us all, vote in every election you’re eligible for, kombucha is gross.
