Thanks to @WVGovernor and the Monongalia County Commission, Morgantown and the surrounding county is now "orange". No, our COVID numbers haven't decreased. Our elected officials decided to count all the WVU student cases who are isolated in Arnold Hall as one case. 1/
As a social scientist, this is fucking laughable, horrible faux-science. As a parent, I am appalled that our elected government officials are willing to manipulate the data to give in to a loud group of folks rather than being committed to public health for ALL. 2/
As for me and mine, I'll continue to pay attention to the Harvard metrics and our R-naught. A color change doesn't make us any safer. I'm incredibly disheartened after being so supportive of how our governor has responded to this crisis. @claymarsh
This is *also* after all WVU faculty and staff were told that if they "felt" they needed a COVID test due to being exposed on campus, the university would not pay for it. It would have to be submitted to insurance or paid OOP.
The governor and CC are making a very big assumption that students who are sick are getting tested. Also, how many students are COVID-positive and asymptomatic, contributing to the spread by going to Target and Gucci Kroger among other places?
