Really wish they’d teach more about business in school because a lot of people don’t understand basic stuff.
Do y’all know the difference between an LLC and business license?
Do y’all understand hat permits you have to have to legally sale certain things? For example, perishable foods, tobacco, alcohol, retail items, etc.
Do y’all understand that you have to also pay your taxes too....? Charge tax and put it away because you have to pay your taxes.
Also an LLC isn’t the only option either. You have everything from:

Sole Proprietorships
Partnerships
Corporations
S Corporations
Limited Liability Company (LLC)
If you have an LLC that doesn’t mean you’re ready for business. It’s a good start, but no where near ready especially if you’re selling food. Do you have the proper licenses/certifications to sell food? Do you have insurance? Etc.
All of this doesn’t have to be done overnight but if you’re selling food and someone gets food poisoning or has a fatal allergic reaction do you have insurance to protect you and your business? These are things to think about.
Is your business credit established so you can qualify for loans and grants? Business credit is VERY important.
Are you books being balanced? If you can’t hire a bookkeeper then learn how to balance the books to see if you’re actually making a profit.
Are you getting your covid tests done regularly? I mean cmon. Has the city come out to test your water to make sure your water is okay to use to sell food. Some water is soooo contaminated that the city won’t even approve it.
Have your city officials inspected your prep kitchen to make sure it’s within health codes to serve food????? These are serious things to consider.
I did this thread not to shame anyone but to make you think. Selling plates is the new thing & I’m here for it, but cover your ass because when that one person gets sick and comes after you don’t say I didn’t warn you. At least get you some business insurance if you can afford it
Having an LLC doesn’t mean you’re ready for business and this is what they don’t tell you. Evaluate your business and look at the other licenses/certifications you need to run legally. Applying for your LLC or whatever entity is just step ONE. People don’t tell you that though.
PAY YOUR TAXES TOO! Do not let it pile up or you’ll be looking at a $10,000 bill and one thing about the government is they WILL get their $$$.
If you are in Georgia and consider yourself a ‘pop-up restaurant’ then get your food vendor license/permit(s). My homies just got shut down over that and lost 3 days worth of business which is thousands of dollars in sales...AND he still had to pay his employees too.
