Did you know that there is an urgent need for more POC and multi-racial individuals to join the bone marrow registry? I didn't either. Until a loved one was diagnosed with Leukemia. THREAD⬇️
This is Jordan. He is 24 years old, bi-racial (Black and white), and Jewish, which is a hard match to find. He is deeply kind, enormously generous, and a sweet warrior for love of family and friends. He is my son's best friend and his family is considered family to my family.
Ethnicity is key to finding a match. There is an urgent need for more POC & multi-racial individuals to join the registry. The numbers are shocking: 75% of Blacks, 75% of multi-racial individuals, 55% of Latinos & 60% of Asian Americans do not have a matched donor in the registry
Matches are so difficult to find because their genetic heritage is underrepresented in the registry. POC & multi-racial individuals are needed to help #DisruptDisparity. A simple swab of your cheek from the comfort of your home gets you on the registry! https://join.bethematch.org/
Find out more about Jordan's story & why it's so important to promote diversity on the bone marrow registry: https://sanjea.wixsite.com/jordan . Do you know someone who could be hero for Jordan & other multi-racial/POC? Please share his story & the call to join the registry to #SaveaLife!
