Look at Werner's initial position. Wide and fairly deep in the defensive half. He is simply awaiting a counterattack opportunity. Look at the blistering pace once he gets the ball and after he passes it to RLC.

Needs to be released early!!
This was the theme most of the match where some of our players did not take full advantage of Werner's pace by releasing him early. Kai tried as he understands Werner's game better than others.
Ziyech will have a tonne of fun with Werner!

Excellent work from Jorg to intercept and then first time releasing Werner. However, Werner still had a bit to do and it's his pace that wins us the pen.
Hopefully, we see a lot more pens due to Werner's blistering pace.

He can play anywhere up front!
We have seen in this game, he has played in the middle, RW and LW. Werner is the epitome of versatility. His burst of pace catches out defenders cold.
Unlucky here as it was a fine save from Ryan.

Defensive work rate!
He is such a busy player. doesn't just wait for the ball. He goes hunting for it! Look how far he has dropped in this play to win the ball and immediately sprints forward to resume his primary objective.
We have a proper lethal weapon in our hands!!
