Tonight @AberdeenFC take on @vikingfotball

I have a strange feeling that The Dons are going to get it done tonight!

Quick thread as to why...
Expected line up

4-3-3

Injury to no.1 Ostbo means former Ipswich youth Crowe is likely to start

The recent sale of dangerous full back Pereira bring experienced player Vikstol

Wills get onto some of the dangers and opportunities
Style of play

High pressing and energy in the middle with Lokberg being a lynchpin who competes and wins a lot of tackles and interceptions.

Worth noting lots of energy but his technical ability is questionable and forcing him to be the play maker could result in turnovers!
The key threat for Aberdeen!

Zymer Bytyqi

Former Red Bull Salzburg academy player was purchased for 600k (approx) at the age of 16.

Very effective dribbler, quick feet and pacey will cause trouble with his movements and when he is on the ball things happen!

Case and Point
Striker Veton Berisha who triggers a lot of pressing from the front as well as his ability to connect play with midfield runners and quick passing.

Whilst his goals to game ratio is good over the past few years his performance in front of goal is actually questionable
Going back to style of play:

Viking want to attack on the transition with most efficiency coming from counter attacks where they have turned the ball over and defensive lines are out of position.

It’s also worth noting fairly equal distribution of the ball down the flanks!
So how can Aberdeen get a result and bring the gravy back to Scotland!
Line up

3-4-3 or 5-4-1

With no major injuries I would be surprised if there was much of a change in line up in what has seen Aberdeen win 5 on the bounce and concede only 1 goal!
I expect Aberdeen will try to stifle the game and keep the play in central area's where possible, Relying on the energy and discipline of Ross McCorrie to be able to cover wide area's and break up play and help with transitions.
With a rigid structure and quick counters, Aberdeen could bait Viking and there could be spaces in behind. Communication and positional question marks over Vevatne and Heggheim could lead to space for Hedges, Wright and Watkins to get in behind and create opportunities.
Finally, I think the key player for Aberdeen will be Scott Wright.

High energy and ability to interchange positionally should allow for chances against The Viking backline and we could actually see chances similar to the goal against Kilmarnock.
