backlash against the new harry potter game is currently being countered by people saying 'well those poor developers worked for so long, if you boycott they will lose their jobs'

my question is why you're making this an Us problem when it is no one's fault but JK's
this is what capitalism does to us. it creates the massively unbalanced situation then blames workers for not wanting to participate in their own oppression
not buying the slam dunk licensed video game is the best way to send the message that jk's name is toxic and prevent new licensing deals.

her book sales are down two thirds TWO THIRDS compared to the same period last year

bigotry must have consequences
this isn't even a "well there's no ethical consumption under capitalism anyway so what's the harm in..." situation. it's a video game. thousands of them get released every year. the situation is not equivalent to buying household supplies from Amazon.
look, I get it. I love harry potter. I've come close to buying a wand. I queued for the book launches. but you have to make stands at some point.

I've been waiting for a video game like cyberpunk 2077 literally my entire life, and I'm not buying it because I don't want to suppo
rt transphobic behavior from the developers or crunch culture in gamedev.

it stung quite a lot to have to tell myself I wasn't buying it but I got over it.

I believe in you friends.

you can get over it too.
wanna reiterate this part https://twitter.com/ithayla/status/1306584471114637315?s=19

book publishing is one of the few industries whose sales have increased during the pandemic. across the board, all genres (afaik). for jk to be under performing the market by two thirds is SCARY for $ makers
