Looking forward to listening to this lunchtime webinar from @HeritageFundUK today on digital leadership. I’ll share some top tips on this thread. https://twitter.com/josiefraser/status/1306578658690134017
“The heritage sector is not an island” says @patricktowell @GolantInnov - digital needs to respond to changing needs & challenges. Not least through Covid. Online platforms more transparent about green credentials - enabling choice.
What becomes normal for tourism choices becomes so for related heritage sector. Choice - do we lead this or wait for our visitors to be disappointed/not come. How are things changing with digital for other sectors? We compete for attention and money but we can borrow innovation.
We need to redesign our organisations in order for us to survive. Need to be digitally capable says @GolantInnov @patricktowell
. @rossparry change is bespoke to your org & you need to frame your own digital pathway. What is digital? Shared terminology. 👇
Being precise about literacy, capability & competency...
Digital change within context
Contextual, purposeful, holistic with digital change
. @KThomsonNI talks about her experience for NI Museums. “Relevance is key to sustainability”. No point buying the rolls Royce of CRM systems if it stays parked in the garage. Embedding systems... Learning by being. Driving change from the top, testing benefits in manageable way.
Next up @janefinnis - we need digitally mature & literate creative leadership to survive pandemic. What does this mean for us? 1. Digital is about more than technology - new ways of doing things. As much about people & processes as systems.
2. Commitment of resources necessary to ensure staff can use systems. Digital gaps also in leadership. None of this exists in a vacuum. Context is key. Digital platforms are facilitators for debate.
3. Ethics & civic duty matter & under scrutiny. Reflecting/responding to ethics & needs of audiences. @janefinnis recommends spending an hour a week on learning more about digital.
